Dear MDC family,
Today I write to convey my best wishes and sincere thanks to all of you as we wrap up an unforgettable year and I begin my presidency at Miami Dade College.
I want to take a moment to reflect on a year that has brought our nation and community an enormous amount of loss as well as challenges. It is always a time of promise, as we celebrate the end of one year and the start of another. While 2020 was a difficult one for many, we must reflect back with the optimism that brighter days are ahead - that while the challenges are great, each of us has the resilience and creativity to rise up and meet them. I hope you will join me in looking forward to the new year with great excitement. In the year ahead, we will build on the unparalleled success of MDC and accomplish many great things together.
I would like to thank Dr. Rolando Montoya for serving as Miami Dade College’s Interim President for the past 16 months. His tireless hard work and extraordinary leadership have led our institution during this challenging time. Not only did he keep us moving forward, but he did so with great resolve, experience, grace, and kindness. We all owe him a great debt of gratitude for keeping MDC focused on serving our students and keeping everyone in the College family safe and healthy. Again, thank you, Dr. Montoya, for your exemplary service to MDC!
Wishing each of you and your loved ones a new year that is filled with health, peace and joy.
May you all continue to have a restful and enjoyable winter recess. I look forward to connecting with all of you very soon.
With respect and admiration,
Happy New Year!
Madeline
