IMPORTANT: In order to be considered eligible for the Benjamin León School of Nursing at Miami Dade College the TEAS must be taken on-campus at a Miami Dade College test center. Scores from other institutions or from ATI directly are not eligible for consideration and will not be entered in the College’s student record keeping system.

The ATI TEAS, or Test of Essential Academic Skills, is designed specifically to assess a student's preparedness entering the health science fields. The ATI TEAS test is comprised of 170 questions set up in a multiple-choice format with four-option answers. Questions are designed to test the basic academic skills you will need to perform in class in the areas of: Reading, Math, Science, and English and Language Usage.

The Benjamin León School of Nursing at Miami Dade College pre-licensure Associate of Science in Nursing program requires the TEAS for all applicants.
Students must have a minimum TEAS composite score of 60% to apply for admission to the School of Nursing.
The Benjamin León School of Nursing requires students to take the following Four components of the TEAS: Reading (55 minutes), Mathematics (57 minutes), Science (60 minutes), English and Language Usage (37 minutes). The ATI TEAS exam is comprised of 170 total questions, with 209 minutes in allocated testing time (3 hours and 29 minutes). Question types include multiple choice, multiple select (select all that apply), fill in the blank, ordered response and hot spots. It is strongly recommended that students wait until they have successfully completed all required EAP, English, Mathematics and Science courses (Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology and Microbiology) before attempting the exam.
TEAS scores for consideration into Nursing or PTA programs, MUST be the result of testing at a MDC Testing and Assessment Department. Scores from other institutions cannot be used for consideration into the Nursing or PTA programs at Miami Dade College.
Results are viewable immediately after the exam. Score reports will not be printed for MDC students; as they will be inputted into the MDC Connect student accounts.
If you are testing for another (non-MDC) institution, two score reports will be offered, one as a printed copy and one as a stamped and sealed copy. *Be advised, other Institution candidates will be subject to a separate fee of $45.

Candidates taking the TEAS must follow these instructions:
Step 1: Fill out the TEAS for Nursing Exam Request Form or the TEAS for Health Sciences Exam Request Form.
Step 2: Receive appointment confirmation from the Testing and Assessment Department. An email with the appropriate payment link will be sent.
Step 3: Pay the test fee, at the site you would like to take your test. Your seat will not be reserved without payment.
Step 4: Create an ATI account at www.atitesting.com. Select create account by filing out the required information, click HERE for creating an account instructions.
Step 5: If testing on campus, bring your username and password along with two picture ID's to the testing center on the day of your exam.
The following policies apply to all examinees planning to take the TEAS exam at Miami Dade College:
- Miami Dade College does not accept TEAS test scores from other institutions. For admission consideration the ATI TEAS must be taken at a Miami Dade College - Testing and Assessment Department.
- Schedule at least 4 hours to complete the exam. The actual test time is 3 hours and 29 minutes.

Students will be allowed one retake with a minimum of 30 days between attempts. Further retakes must be one year (365 days) from the first attempt.

- 1st Attempt
- March 1st, 2022
- 2nd Attempt (1st Retake)
- April 1st, 2022
- 3rd Attempt (2nd retake – Available one year after 1st attempt)
- March 1st, 2023
- 4th Attempt (3rd retake – Available one year after 2nd attempt)
- April 1st, 2023
Scores (regardless of attempt number) are valid for a period of two (2) years.
