From Renaissance to rock – small group to concert band – the department's wide range of performance ensembles offer diverse opportunities for students with a passion for music.
MDC’s premier big band, this ensemble allows students to experience both traditional and contemporary jazz and contemporary literature from some of the finest jazz arrangers and composers.

A chamber ensemble is a smaller group that performs without a conductor and whose members act as directors for the ensemble. The ensembles that we offer are: brass ensemble, woodwind ensemble, saxophone ensemble, percussion ensemble, clarinet ensemble, low brass ensemble, trumpet ensemble, and flute ensemble.

The Wind Symphony, composed of brass, woodwind and percussionists, is one of the largest and most visible student organizations on campus. The MDC Wind Symphony is open to all students and no audition is required.

This group is made up of a rhythm section of piano, bass, drums, guitar, and multiple vocalists, allowing the exploration of the roots of R&B/Pop music by performing both classic and contemporary songs.
