Faculty and Staff Play Critical Roles on a Changemaker Campus

We’re all passionate about students and learning. When this passion is combined with our own interest in creating positive change, the impact is greater. We invite you to share your vision and creativity to help students raise their voices and understand what’s possible. Your contributions to changemaker education create an integrated learning pathway that embeds social responsibility into all disciplines and promotes agency within every student.

Changemaking at MDC

How is Changemaker Education at MDC defined?

At MDC, changemaker education is defined as the exploration of relevant community and global challenges through high-impact teaching practices that promote the development of our changemaker attributes of empathy, reflection, resilience, and action.

How can I align my courses to meet this definition of Changemaker Education?

As a start, consider:

  • Focus on social and environmental issues from a local, national, or global perspective
  • Cultivate our MDC changemaking attributes of empathy, reflection, resilience and action
  • Approach teaching and learning from a student-centric, high-on-engagement perspective

Deepen your practice further by exploring our Changemaker Education Framework or by signing up for our FPD, TCH1157: Introduction to Changemaker Education, through CIOL.

Opportunities

A changemaker faculty or staff stays engaged and invested in ongoing learning. A changemaker educator takes students beyond the classroom to interact with different perspectives of an issue and apply what they’re learning. Here are some opportunities that can help you in your work to bring changemaking into your space with students:
