MDC's Academy Track Program is a limited-access, two-year, cohort model where participants will be full-time students.
Students will complete 45 college credits in the A.S. in Fire Science Technology (FST) before starting the Firefighter Minimum Standards (FFMS) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification courses.
The FFMS and EMT programs are combined into one program, Firefighter/EMT Combined (Program Code 58000).
Successful completion of FFMS and EMT certification courses will satisfy the remaining 15 college credits in the 60-credit A.S. FST students must complete all 45 credits of the A.S. in Fire Science Technology and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA in order to bypass random selection into Firefighter/EMT Combined.
Applications are open from January to March of every year. Students will be emailed by April with acceptance information. College credit classes will begin in the summer semester following acceptance.
