Program Mission

The Mission of the Nuclear Medicine Technology Program at Miami Dade College is to provide a comprehensive, sequential curriculum in the nuclear medicine imaging services built on the foundation of the general education already acquired in order to develop a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, competent in knowledge, skills and behaviors, so that he/she will become an effective member of the health care team.

Miami Dade College Learning Outcomes

Miami Dade College has adopted the General Education Outcomes listed below. Upon completion of a program of study at the Medical Campus, graduates from Miami Dade College should emulate these outcomes.

  • Formulate strategies to locate, evaluate, and apply information.

Program Goals

Nuclear Medicine Technology Programs Goals

  1. Educate competent and compassionate Nuclear Medicine Technologists, capable of functioning in any environment within 17 months.
  2. Provide a complete, up-to-date competency-based curriculum.
  3. Prepare the student to think and act independently.
  4. Prepare the student for entry into the ever-changing Nuclear Medicine work environment.
  5. Prepare the student to achieve a satisfactory registry result on the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
  6. Provide accurate student advisement to aid in student retention, course completion, and program completion.

Program Student learning Outcomes

SLO #1- By the completion of the program, the Nuclear Medicine Technology Program student will demonstrate effective written, oral, and reading communication skills with patients/clients, other health care providers, and the community.

SLO #2: By the completion of the program, the Nuclear Medicine Technology Program students demonstrate legal, ethical, and professional behaviors. Specifically, adherence to HIPPA, JACHO standards, DOT regulations, and NRC regulations.

SLO #3: Nuclear Medicine Technology Program student will perform a systematic plan for patient/client assessment and/or management of patient/client data.

SLO #4: By the completion of the program, the Nuclear Medicine Technology Program student will demonstrate the required skills to become a competent health care practitioner.
