Poll Workers Help People Vote on Election Days

Our democracy depends on ordinary people who make sure elections run smoothly and everyone's vote is counted. You can be a part of making sure we have a fair, efficient election for all.

Requirements

  • Be a registered or pre-registered voter in Miami-Dade County. If you live in Broward and want to serve, visit the Broward County Election Day Worker page.)
  • A Voter Registration number is needed to sign up. If you don't have it readily available, visit the Voter Information Lookup page.
  • Be able to read and write the English language
  • Complete the I-9 employment eligibility form
  • Attend mandatory training prior to each election
  • Commit to Monday and Tuesday (Election Day) duties and long hours
  • Have excellent customer service skills
  • Be respectful of all voters
  • Represent the County in a professional manner
  • Remain nonpartisan while at the polls
  • Be able to work long hours
  • Have transportation to and from the polls
  • Have a valid email address

Time Commitment*

Approximately 23 hours comprised of:

  • 4 hours in-person training
  • Approximately 4 hours Monday afternoon (the day before the election) for pre-election set up at your assigned precinct
  • All day on election day, Tuesday, from 5:30 am until approximately 9 pm (if you have class on Tuesdays, make sure you secure your professor’s permission to miss class!)

Payment

Most first-time, MDC poll workers will serve as either an "Inspector" or a "Poll Deputy" and can earn approximately $200.
